Creating thE RIGHT LOOK
The final look and feel of a concrete polished floor relies on the mix within the concrete, the amount of exposure and the final finish. Every floor boasts a unique finish due to the natural nature of the materials.
We’ll put you in contact with the right people to assist you in choosing the right mix for you floor. If you are working with an existing concrete floor we have less control over the types of stones and colouring — defining the amount of exposure and final finish is where you can refine the look and feel.
Exposure and finishes
The exposure is the amount of stone that is revealed when grinding back concrete. There are varying options here from full to minimal exposure.
Below are some examples of the effect that can be achieved with each level. Depending on your desired look and also the use for the space, we can polish your floor in a range of different finishes, from low-sheen to high-gloss.
Full Exposure
This is the result of a maximum grind (Approx. 4-5mm). Very popular finish as it gives a really dense and consistant spread of stone.
Medium Exposure
This is the result of a moderate grind (Approx. 2-4mm). It has a patchier look than the full exposure and a more insconsistant spread of stone.
Minimum Exposure
This is the result of a light grind (Approx. 1-2mm). This finish has a very dispersed stone effect.
NIL Exposure
This is a polish of the surface only, results rely heavily on the finish provided by the concrete contractor. The finished product is unique as no two nil exposure floors are ever the same.
The perfect solution for your outdoor space
GRIND ETCH AND SEAL
Our recommended finish for outdoor spaces. The concrete is ground back to the desired exposure level and then given a permanent non slip texture. We also apply two coats of uv stable clear sealer to enhance the look of the concrete and also make it easier to clean.
